Meet The Digital BioScan+ Medical Device
The Digital BioScan+ medical device is a powerful analytic tool in managing your patients’ health. Scientifically validated and FDA cleared, this medical device performs a range of tests covered and reimbursed by most insurance companies. This system is fast, noninvasive and takes less than 8 minutes to complete an assessment.
The one-page Physician Dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of a patient’s health at-a-glance. The analytic system provides patient insights covering 5 key autonomic and cardiovascular tests described in the pages that follow. Depending on the measurements of each test, you will be able to determine the best course of action to resolve the patient’s condition as well as motivate your patient to immediate action.
The Digital BioScan+ Completes 5 Core Tests:
1. Autonomic Testing:
a. Heart Rate Variability & Cardiac Autonomic Reflex Test (CARTs/Ewing): DBS+ performs the battery of tests recommended by the American Academy of Neurology since 1996, and the Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy Subcommittee of the Toronto Consensus Panel on Diabetic Neuropathy, for assessing the autonomic nervous system. Autonomic testing is recommended for all patients with type-2 Diabetes at the time of the diagnosis, and 5 years after diagnosis in individuals with type-1 Diabetes. A reduction in HRV has been associated with the early stages of clinical Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy (CAN). HRV analysis reflects the autonomic nervous system components of balance and activity. Ewing tests are established for assessing autonomic dysfunction and CAN.
b. Galvanic Skin Response: The sudomotor testing clinical data suggest it may be the most sensitive means to detect peripheral distal neuropathy. The sudomotor score using the 3 markers of the test had a sensitivity of 91.4% and specificity of 79.1% (cutoff number >3) to detect symptoms of peripheral distal neuropathy (P=0.0001). Area under the ROC curve (AUC) -0.893.
2. Cardiac and Vascular Testing:
a. Ankle Brachial Index: An ABI less than 0.90 has been shown to have sensitivity of 90.0% and specificity of 98.0% for detecting lower-extremity stenosis of greater than 50%.
b. Pulse Volume Velocity: ABI PWV had a sensitivity of 60.1% and specificity of 70.8% and area under ROC curve of 0.639 in predicting coronary artery stenosis.

Allowable Medicare CPT Codes With Qualifications
What are CPT and ICD-10 Codes? Current Procedural Terminology Codes, or CPT Codes, describes medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and is designed to communicate uniform information about medical services and procedures among physicians, coders, patients, accreditation organizations, and payers for administrative, financial, and analytical purposes.
Testng of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) function; sudomotor, including 1 or more of the following: Quantitative Sudomotor Axon Reflex Test (QSART), silastic sweat imprint, thermoregulatory sweat test, and changes in sympathetic skin potential.
Simultaneous, independent, quantitative measures both parasympathetic function and sympathetic function, based on timefrequency analysis of heart rate variability concurrent with time-frequency analysis of continuous respiratory activity, with mean HR & BP, during breathing intervals
Non-invasive physiologic studies of upper or lower extremity arteries, multiple levels,
bi-lateral (volume plethysmography); considered a bilateral exam
